Inspiration: This image represents the artist beginning quest and journey into innate creative; artistic self discovery. It depicts the artist soul sitting on a pedestal inside a glass corridor looking from the inner imagination of the artist to the outward view of creative possibilities. The flaming two headed bird represents the movement of the artist spirit in connection with the dark side of the innermost and outer creative self manifestations. The colors represents the lower nature viruses the higher nature in the artist soul and imagination. The image of the city and people represent the unity between the artist and the world as experienced and expressed in visual images. The Poppy plants on the wall represent life and death. The small window with plant outside represents creative expression being allowed to flow from the inside to the outside. The stairwell represents a means for creative spirit to exit from within inner self into the world to publicly share body of works created by the artist over time. The interpretation for this piece of work wasn’t conceived until many years after its completion. It was conceived during the very early morning hours while the artist was working as a doorman for very wealthy residents at an Evanston Illinois lake front condominium. The residents occupying this real estate are amongst families with a long history of wealthy and heritage. The image was illustrated in six different phases before being painted.
